POLO Architects publishes book
The book 'POLO Architects', published by Public Space, is finished. After one year of intense preparations, it can now be found at the bookstore. This period of reflection and introspection coincides with the moment when our two disciplines, architecture and urban development, are also in the throes of change.
This publication marks a fresh start for our architectural office, that has evolved into a multidisciplinary design team. Together with you, we will continue our search for the spatial foundations for a sustainable, sociable and warm society by focusing on research, creativity, technicality, a receptive attitude and process engagement.
The publication presents a selection of projects realised between 1991 and 2015: from the early single-family homes to large projects such as the Artesis Plantijn University College near Park Spoor Noord, Cadiz in the Eilandje neighbourhood in Antwerp or the office tower near Gent-Sint-Pieters railway station. The buildings are presented using photographs by Filip Dujardin and Stijn Bollaert, among others, accompanied by plans and short texts.
The comprehensive body is completed with conversations with five leading interlocutors who contemplate and question based on their own relationship with architecture. Along with Filip Canfyn, bOb Van Reeth, Kristiaan Borret, Bart Verschaffel and Henk Visch, the architects take a critical look at the practice of architecture in Flanders and various topics that are particularly dear to their hearts.
